"The West Yorkshire ATR Programme has been a genuine system movement, helping partners across health, justice, policing, local government, education, the voluntary sector and communities to think differently about adversity, trauma and resilience. We Are ATR builds on that strong foundation and offers an important opportunity to continue supporting organisations and systems to embed trauma-informed and responsive practice in ways that are practical, compassionate and effective."
Alison Lowe OBE
Deputy Mayor for Police and Crime
West Yorkshire Combined Authority
Former Senior Responsible Officer
"I have had the privilege of supporting the West Yorkshire Adversity, Trauma and Resilience Programme over the last three years as Senior Responsible Officer, and I have seen first-hand the difference this work has made across West Yorkshire.
"The ATR Programme has been much more than a training programme or a short-term initiative. It has been a genuine system movement, bringing together partners from health, local government, policing, justice, education, the voluntary and community sector, and people with lived experience around a shared ambition to understand and respond to adversity, trauma and resilience differently. What has always stood out to me is the ability of the programme to connect strategic leadership with practical delivery. It has helped senior leaders, frontline practitioners and communities to ask different questions, to think more deeply about the root causes of harm, violence, inequality and distress, and to develop more compassionate, preventative and effective responses.
The annual Knowledge Exchanges have been a powerful example of this approach in action. They created space for honest conversation, shared learning, challenge and hope, and helped build a community of people committed to trauma-informed and trauma-responsive change. I have always been pleased to support and speak at these events because they reflected the very best of system partnership: people coming together with purpose, humility and a real commitment to doing things differently. The establishment of We Are ATR is an important next chapter. It builds on the achievements, relationships and learning of the West Yorkshire ATR Programme and creates an opportunity to support more organisations, partnerships and systems to embed trauma-informed and responsive practice in meaningful and practical ways. I am very pleased to support We Are ATR and to recognise the strong foundation from which it has grown. This work matters, and I look forward to seeing We Are ATR continue to influence, support and strengthen trauma-informed system change across West Yorkshire and beyond."
About ATR
We Are ATR is a values-led company specialising in adversity, trauma and resilience.
We support organisations, systems and workforces to become trauma-informed, trauma-responsive, prevention-focused and evidence-led. Our work helps partners understand what sits beneath demand, harm, distress, conflict, disengagement and workforce pressure, and respond in ways that improve outcomes rather than compound harm.
We work across the systems, services and organisations that shape people’s lives, including public services, health and care, housing, education, criminal justice, community safety, recovery partnerships, voluntary and community organisations, employers and commercial partners.
Our simple proposition is this:
We help organisations move from awareness to action, and from good intention to measurable change.
Why Choose We Are ATR
Many providers offer training, consultancy or evaluation. We bring all three together through ATR Academy, Think ATR and ATR Respond.
This means partners can build workforce capability, generate insight and evidence, and receive practical implementation support through one integrated relationship. We help organisations understand what is happening, decide what needs to change, equip people to work differently and measure the difference made.
